Behavioral Finance and Decision Architecture

Decision ArchetictureWhen it comes to financial planning, it can be difficult to stay on the straight and narrow planning path. In the midst of a rapidly changing world, well crafted financial planning policies can serve both planners and their Clients by acting as a powerful touchstone. As experts in the field, Elissa and Dave have made countless contributions and dozens of presentations on the topic of Policy-Based Financial Planning. Next week FPA of San Francisco’s chapter meeting, Dave will be teaming up with Terry Odean, a noted expert in behavioral finance, to discuss the importance of behavioral finance and how to help Clients make good financial decisions. Professor Odean will demonstrate psychological decision biases with interactive exercises and Dave will translate theory into practice with actionable decision framework. We encourage you to read more about Policy-Based Financial Planning and how decision architecture helps to build better choices.

Facetious Financial News

Press and MediaFor nearly a decade, Elissa and Dave have been defining the characteristics of an ideal financial planning policy to help anchor Clients to a consistent course of action despite changes in external circumstances. Their work in this field has become increasingly important for many reasons, but especially when considering the steady stream of news and gossip that inundates today’s world and threatens to move Clients off course. With financial news, or what we prefer to call financial noise, in a current lull, we wanted to share a satirical video that we feel is the epitome of all financial noise. We encourage you to watch the humorous segment titled “Every TV News Report on the Economy in One” for a good laugh today, and to keep it as a distraction whenever “the numbers” begin to feel scary.

Yeske Buie’s BIGGEST Company Retreat

IMG_6073The Yeske Buie team gathered in San Francisco last week for our biggest semi-annual retreat to date. We recognize this as our biggest retreat not only because of the size of our staff, but also because of our retreat work. This year, the team focused on solidifying Yeske Buie’s worldviews and core beliefs which resulted in the formation of what we call, the BIGs. Learn more about the BIGs and see pictures from our week together in San Francisco.
