Employee Stock Options: Simplified

Chances are you have had stock options at one point or another or know someone who has. The term ‘stock options’ refers to company stock incentives offered to company employees. The stock incentives may come in many different shapes and sizes but most basically, stock options grant the employee the right to purchase a certain number of company stock shares at a certain price on a certain date. If the company’s stock price increases, the employee’s options are worth more and, thus, the employee is incentivized to help the company continue to grow. Here we’ll explore two of the most common forms of stock options and their main differences. Read on to learn more about the basics of Incentive Stock Options (ISOs) and Non-Qualified Stock Options (NQSOs).

One thing that’s important to remember is that someone is always predicting bad things for the economy, but the reality of the markets is much messier. Read on for our thoughts on “the coming bear market”.
