TheLiveBigWay* Digest – Nov. 9th Edition

In this edition of the Digest, we will be discussing the recent shift in our investment strategy toward a truly global portfolio (we are revisiting this post from a few weeks back as the changes were implemented in the last few days) and celebrating Elissa being named one of the top financial planners in this month’s Washingtonian Magazine.

Moving to a “Geographically-Neutral” Allocation
You’ve often heard us say that it makes sense to be “geographically-neutral,” that there is no systematic return associated with geographic allocation. One exception in recent years has been an extreme under-weighting of so-called Emerging Markets, which for some time represented less than a tenth of their true market weight in our portfolios.  We moved to shift that balance in January (The Case for Emerging Markets) and have now made a further shift toward emerging markets that has completed this transition to a “geographically-neutral” allocation.

Congrats Elissa!
Elissa has been named to Washingtonian Magazine’s list of the Top Financial Planners in the DC metro area for 2012. She has appeared on all three of Washingtonian’s previous lists of top financial planners.

The magazine developed its list by surveying hundreds of experts, asking “Whom would you trust with your own money?” The magazine then followed up the recommendations with their own research, interviewing experts and consulting industry organizations and publications. Those on the list received the most recommendations from all sources. Elissa was one of only 62 fee-only financial planners named.

The November issue of Washingtonian, which is now on newsstands, highlights Yeske Buie and our unique financial planning philosophy:

“Money, however hard earned, is a renewable resource.  At Yeske Buie, we help our clients make the most of their most valuable resource: life. Our motto is Live Big® – It’s about the size of your life, not the size of your wallet®.”
