Short Take: Is the Stock Market Expensive?

Ever since the Dow crossed the 20,000 mark, we’ve been hearing from various quarters that the party is, most assuredly, over. As we noted at the time (Market Note: Dow 20,000), that milestone is just a number. That said, it can be difficult to ignore the flood of suggestions that things may be getting frothy. So where can we find a better predictor of future returns? Let’s take a look at the average Yeske Buie portfolio and explore whether or not the question “Is the stock market expensive?” is the question you should be asking.

Tax Day: April 18th, 2017

This year, Tax Day will be observed on April 18th. No, this is not a typo! As was the case last year, you will have a few extra days to file your 2016 Federal and State tax returns due to the observed holiday, Emancipation Day, a government holiday in Washington, D.C. After April 18th, we will send an email request to ask for a copy of your completed 2016 return, as we do every year. The information provided in your tax return helps us to best serve you throughout the year as we perform tax related analysis. If your return is completed in advance of the deadline, feel free to send the documents to us using any of the methods described here.

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that others won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give others permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.” ~Marianne Williamson
