Capitalizing on Catch Up Contributions

While the celebration of one’s 50th birthday may include unwanted over the hill gifts, one “gift” that you can look forward to receiving is the eligibility for catch-up contributions to your retirement accounts. We recommend that you take advantage of this ability and contribute the maximum, including the catch-up, wherever possible. As part of our processes at Yeske Buie, we review all eligible Clients and we will contact you individually if this recommendation applies to you. For more information regarding your retirement accounts, we encourage you to read How Well Do You Know Your 401(k) Plan? and Brushing Up on the Facts: Roths IRAs.

Gather Around the Family Tree

When meeting with Clients, we sometimes explore their personal history by asking questions about childhood money memories, their hopes for their financial legacy, and more. What we learn is always focused on the important people in their lives and almost invariably, it is about far more than money. You may find that having these kinds of conversations with your family and friends can be very impactful in deepening a relationship, and one way you may consider starting the conversation is by exploring your family tree together. Today, we share the family trees from a variety of our team members along with a blank template that you can complete for yourself. We find that this is a fun exercise to do anytime, but especially around the holidays when many are visiting family.
