Lauren (Grove) Stansell, CFP®

Financial Planner

Grove_5948Lauren (Grove) Stansell, CFP® earned an honors B.S. in Economics, summa cum laude, from Virginia Tech in May 2012. She earned her second honors bachelor’s degree in Finance, summa cum laude, from Virginia Tech’s CFP® Certification Education Track, a CFP Board-Registered program in December 2012. Lauren passed the CFP® exam in July 2014 and became a CFP® professional in February 2015.

Lauren co-founded the Financial Planning Association (FPA®) Student Chapter at Virginia Tech and was the first president of the organization. In the first year of its existence, the chapter grew to over 70 students, making it the largest student chapter in the country. She handed off leadership after the first year, but loved staying involved and helping the chapter advance. Lauren enjoys engaging with the next generation of financial planners; she served as the Co-Director of NexGen for the FPA of the National Capital Area and is now serving as the Director of Marketing Communications for the FPA of San Francisco. She is a graduate of FPA’s Residency Program.

In her free time, Lauren enjoys spending time with family and friends, horseback riding, playing sports, eating and learning how to cook delicious food, traveling and attending sporting events.

Client Focus: As a Financial Planner, Lauren works with the rest of the Financial Planning Team to ensure that clients’ financial planning needs are met and to help them achieve their Live Big® goals.

Current Update: Lauren is eagerly awaiting the FPA Far West Roundup conference – one of her favorites! It’s held on the campus of UC Santa Cruz: attendees sleep in the dorms, attend all sessions together in a lecture hall, and socialize together on the quad each night. The content of the conference is always superb and the comradery and relationship building is equally excellent. And, as an added bonus this year, Yusuf Abugideiri and Russell Kroger will be presenting!

In the office, Lauren has been busy helping to onboard and train Yeske Buie’s two newest Financial Planning Residents, Dan Tripp and Ryan Rasmussen, along with the rest of the Yeske Buie team. Dan and Ryan are in the thick of their training boot camp, a 12-week program where each week has a focus, like estate flowcharts or tax projections. They’re doing great work and Lauren is enjoying training them and getting to know them better.

She’s also been working with our summer interns, Hannah Quackenbush and Cole DeLucas. They’ll be heading back to college soon and she will certainly miss their desire to learn, strong work ethic, and great attitudes that contributed to a wonderful atmosphere this summer.

And on a personal note, Lauren’s wedding is almost here! September 9th is the big day. She and her fiancé, Daniel, are pulling together the final details and getting very excited for what is sure to be a magical day.

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that others won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give others permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.” ~Marianne Williamson
