Lauren Grove, CFP®

Financial Planner

Grove_5948Lauren Grove, CFP® earned an honors B.S. in Economics, summa cum laude, from Virginia Tech in May 2012. She earned her second honors bachelor’s degree in Finance, summa cum laude, from Virginia Tech’s CFP® Certification Education Track, a CFP Board-Registered program in December 2012. Lauren passed the CFP® exam in July 2014 and became a CFP® professional in February 2015.

Lauren co-founded the Financial Planning Association (FPA®) Student Chapter at Virginia Tech and was the first president of the organization. In the first year of its existence, the chapter grew to over 70 students, making it the largest student chapter in the country. She handed off leadership after the first year, but loved staying involved and helping the chapter advance. Lauren enjoys engaging with the next generation of financial planners; she served as the Co-Director of NexGen for the FPA of the National Capital Area and is now serving as the Director of Marketing Communications for the FPA of San Francisco. She is a graduate of FPA’s Residency Program.

In her free time, Lauren enjoys spending time with family and friends, horseback riding, playing sports, eating and learning how to cook delicious food, traveling and attending sporting events.

Client Focus: As a Financial Planner, Lauren works with the rest of the Financial Planning Team to ensure that clients’ financial planning needs are met and to help them achieve their Live Big® goals.

Current Update: Lauren has continued working on the Task Force planning the Financial Planning Association’s (FPA) Retreat conference in Atlanta in April. She and Yusuf will be presenting during the conference on Yeske Buie’s comprehensive hiring, onboarding and training processes. The two are looking forward to sharing what Yeske Buie has learned over time and learning so much more from other sessions and peers during the rest of the conference.

Lauren is also staying active as the Co-Director of Marketing Communications for the San Francisco chapter of FPA. Her big goal for the year is to get more active participants on the chapter’s Twitter page – it’s a great way to share knowledge nuggets learned at the different chapter meetings and keep members up-to-date on the happenings in the chapter.

Lauren and her fiancé, Daniel, recently took a weekend trip to Los Angeles where they got to tour SpaceX, see Harry Potter World and enjoy the Santa Monica beach and boardwalk (and see Muscle Beach).  It was a great weekend getaway and the SpaceX tour was a bucket list item she will never forget!

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that others won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give others permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.” ~Marianne Williamson
